Recertification Handbook: Your Guide to Maintaining Credentials

For detailed information on renewal requirements, CEU categories, documentation, audit processes, and more, please take the time to read the handbook

Purpose of Recertification

The purpose of recertification is to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge beyond the minimum competence achieved through initial certification. Through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), practitioners safeguard quality services for the general public and reinforce professional accountability to homeopathic and other healthcare communities. Continuing Professional Development includes:

  • Appropriate options for continuing education, professional development, and personal growth
  • A standardized process for submission and evaluation of recertification requirements

Process Overview Recertification

The CHC requires annual credential recertification. Recertification is an online process through MyCHC. The recertification process includes the following:

  • Updating of any certificant contact information
  • Documentation of continuing professional development
  • Signed attestations for the CHC Code of Ethics, Client Healthcare Rights, and Fitness to Practice
  • Recertification fee payment
  • Contact information is maintained by the certificant via the MyCHC account. Certificants may opt out of having contact information listed in the directory by checking a the opt out box in their MyCHC profile.
  • Certificants are able to recertify from July 1st- December 31
  • An updated digital CCH certificate and digital badge valid through the upcoming year is automatically uploaded in the My Credentials tab in MyCHC account  except for certificants who are under audit. Those who are under audit will receive an updated digital CCH certificate and digital badge after the audit is successful.
  • A certificant who completes recertification requirements on or before the annual deadline shall be considered In Good Standing. Recertification is not required the first year the CCH credential is awarded. For example, someone awarded the CCH credential in April or October 2022 need not submit their recertification application until December 31, 2023.

CEU Categories and Documentation

The CHC requires a total of fifteen (15) Continuing Education Units (CEUs) during each annual recertification.

Active, Lapsed, Expired

If recertification requirements are not met by December 31st, the CCH credential lapses, and the certificant may no longer use the CCH credential. Reactivation of a lapsed credential is possible if the credential has been lapsed for two (2) years or less. Reactivation of a lapsed credential requires four actions:

  1. Complete and submit the CCH Credential Reactivation Form. To receive the form, please email our office with your request.
  2. Upload documentation of 15 CEUs per lapsed year (see CEU Requirements)
  3. Pay recertification fee per each lapsed year(s)
  4. Pay $100 reactivation fee

If the credential has lapsed for more than two years,  the credential is expired. Certificants may reactivate their CCH credential by taking the CHC Exam and paying the  Exam Retake Fee.

Retirement

In recognition of the contributions certified homeopaths have made to homeopathic practice, education, and research throughout their careers, the CHC offers, at the time of retirement, the title of Retired Certified Homeopath. At the time of retirement, the certified homeopath might want to continue to using the CCH credential while indicating he/she has retired from practice. The Retired Certified Homeopath designation is given to homeopaths who are no longer practicing, supervising, or teaching homeopathy and have no plans to practice, supervise, or teach homeopathy.
